Let's start from the top

Whitebox

It’s been awhile since we’ve sent a proper newsletter out, our apologies. From now on though, hopefully we’ll be sticking to a slightly more regular schedule. As always, we’ve been hard at work tasting wine from all over the place, arguing about them, attempting to decipher smudged and poorly written tasting notes and disparaging each other’s palates. Finally, we’ve come to some sort of consensus, so here’s a few of the new beauties that have made the cut.

Joseph Cattin Sauvage

Cattin Sauvage Cremant D’Alsace

From Joseph Cattin, beast of the Alsace, comes Cattin Sauvage an uncompromising Cremant. Organically farmed, wild yeast, minimal intervention, maximum flavour. Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc make up the blend. It’s great, really fresh and vibrant, bright citrus, a touch floral and a little bit biscuity.

Villa Noria Basic Instinct

Villa Noria Basic Instinct Blanc

We’ve stocked Villa Noria’s excellent Amfora for a while now. Basic Instinct is an 80/20 Chardonnay Sauvignon blend, fruit forward with the Sauvignon providing some zesty bite and a little herbaceous note. Bottled sans sulfite for anyone sensitive to sulfites.

Single bottle £16.99

6 bottle mix £15.49

Levrier Art Collection Red Blend

Levrier Art Collection Red Blend

Let’s be honest here, the label caught our eye. There’s always a tension with a great label, is the wine going to be any good? Am I being unduly swayed by the wicked artwork? The good news is, the Levrier wines absolutely rip.

A blend of Merlot, Cabernets Franc and Sauvignon, the Art Collection Red Blend represents Jo Irvine’s determination to champion the forgotten varieties of the Barossa.

Single bottle £35.99

6 bottle mix £31.99

Chevailer La Bulle

Chevalier La Bulle Brut Rouge

If, like me, you prefer a Northern Rhone style Syrah and have been wondering why fans of big Australian bruisers get all the killer fizz while you get sod all, then boy have I got good news for you!

La Bulle is essentially a sparkling Crozes-Hermitage, bone dry with deep blue fruit and plenty of peppery spice.

Single bottle £21.99
