Tommasi Viticoltori is a family vineyard dating back to 1902 situated in Pedemonte in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico region of northern Italy.  Still family owned and run by the fourth generation of the founder Giacomo, this vineyard has grown from Giacomo’s tiny vineyard to the Tommasi estate which now owns and operates vineyards and estates in four different parts of Italy; Veneto, Lombardy, Tuscany and Puglia.

One of our favourite wines is the Lugana Le Fornaci Tommasi 2014 which is a fantastic single vineyard wine from a beautiful and recently purchased and replanted site overlooking Lake Garda in Northern Italy. The Trebbiano di Lugana vines excel on the glacial soils and produce only small volumes but tip top quality grapes. Expressive and full of fresh vibrant flavours this delicious dry white is not unlike a good unoaked white burgundy. Impressive and a real find.

When it comes to red wines, the Valpolicella Rafael Tommasi 2015 is a wine that has a distinct identity. A nose of bitter cherry, orange and woodland aromas distinguishes this wine that has developed powerful mineral and game flavours, finishing with restrained tannins and acidity.

Two wines from a family owned vineyard that has grown over the years, passed down through the generations providing quality and excellence for over a century.

Quintessentially Italian!
