Spring Has Sprung! Time for Rosé!

The sky is blue, the sun is shining, the clocks have gone forward and it finally feels that spring has sprung!  As the weather improves and we think about the hazy days of summer that lie ahead, now is the perfect time to stock up on some Rosé.

Rosé is a type of wine that incorporates some of the colour from the grape skins, but not enough to qualify it as a red wine.  According to Wikipedia it "may be the oldest known type of wine as it is the most straightforward to make with the skin contact method. The pink colour can range from a pale 'onion-skin' orange to a vivid near-purple, depending on the varietals used and winemaking techniques."

There are choices too as there are three major ways to produce rosé wine: skin contact, saignée, and blending and they can be made still, semi-sparkling or sparkling and with a wide range of sweetness levels from highly dry Provençal rosé to sweet White Zinfandels and blushes.

Rosé wines are made from a wide variety of grapes and can be found all around the globe and are a particular favourite when the temperatures start to rise too.

Whispering Angel is probably our best seller which is beautiful, light and delicate and has a real 'cult' following and another favourite is the Williams Chase Rosé Luberon which is slightly bolder and comes in a really cool bottle, sits for longer and has more complex depth and flavour.  Both are bone dry, great as an aperitif and ideal to serve with a Tuna Nicoise too!
