Suited to salmon

Fillet of salmon seasoned with fresh herbs

It is always great to see a wine that we stock given a good review in Decanter. In fact, The Mary Delany Collection Chenin Blanc from Citrusdal in South Africa was described as ‘a wine that first intrigues you, then delights you’ with a sense of ‘ripe peach, balanced nuts and roasted herbs.’

The grapes for this wine come from a vineyard high in the mountains of Clanwilliam, 25 miles from the sea at an elevation of 16,000 feet. The vines are dry farmed as there is no longer any water available but these robust vines are over 50 years old and the wine is made by Ginny Povall.

In terms of pairing, this wine is a perfect match for an oily fish like salmon or mackerel. It is a great wine which is really weighty in the mouth which stands up well to the oily fish. A perfect match for fish on a Friday!
