The Gimblett is a Bordeaux blend that has an expressive nose, with aromas of cassis, blackberry, blackcurrant leaf, cedar wood and tobacco. Le Logis de la Bouchardiere dates back to 1850, and is headed up by Cabernet Franc king Bruno Sourdais. This is the flagship wine from the estate and represents everything that makes Chinon great. On the nose the wine has complex aromas of chargrilled peppers, violet, pencil lead and crushed stone.
This has full ripe Pinot Gris spiciness in the nose, with a lovely lemon lift. It is medium weight, but with a full, stony impact on the palate, where it is long and satisfying with good acidity. No malolactic fermentation is allowed, so the wine retains a bright crisp citrus acidity. Attractive peach fruit. creamy texture, very slightly off-dry.
