The bouquet is full of sweet pastry aromas, scents of Williams pear skin and notes of yellow fruit. Extraordinary complexity on the palate expresses ripe fruit together with great structure.
Vineyards around Lake Kaltern are very small in size and most of the winemakers in the region have less than one hectare of land, for a small winemaker it is virtually impossible to make and market their own wine so the co-operative of Kaltern was set up in 1906 with the goal of producing high quality wines.
Bright ruby colour with intense, ripe red fruit, plums and blueberries on the nose. Soft, round and juicy but with good concentration of spice and berries, this very typical Monastrell is medium to full-bodied with succulent firm tannin and persistent fruit finish.
This complext Pinot Grigio from Livio Felluga is straw yellow in colour with light copper hues. The bouquet is elegant and complex with floral notes of jasmine and perfumes of white peach, apricot, pear and golden apple.
“GSM” and “SMG” are both everyday acronyms within the wine fraternity for blends of these 3 grape varieties, but have you ever come across a wine labelled as MSG…? I suspect not, and it’s because producers are afraid that their wine will be tarnished with a link to the well-known, much-maligned food flavour enhancer.
