The 2017 Wanderer’s Heart is a Cape Red – a wine that is built around the incredible vineyards found all over the Western Cape. The wine’s aromas include tea leaf, dried cranberry, exotic woods, star anise, coriander seed and citrus peel, and a whiff of the apothecary’s chest. On the palate there’s naartjie peel, cloves and damson plums.

This lovely Cannonau from the Argiolas family is Sardinia is deep ruby red with garnet tinges. Aromas jump out of the glass, showing hints of red berries, Mediterranean spices and herbs. The palate is warm, well-rounded with good structure and perfect balance. A super food wine and terrific value.
The P`tit Pape is a Northern Rhone style blend, of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvédre from the Californian Central Coast. Aromas of wild thyme, sagebrush and cranberry lead into a lighter yet lively palate full of chaparral spice, cracked pepper and zesty red fruit. Serve with anything.
Winemaking is kept as natural as possible and Marcel never uses new oak. The wine remained in the cellar until bottling without fining or filtration, to keep as much of the fruit character as possible. Marcel adds no sulphur during the winemaking, with a tiny amount at bottling to ensure stability.The full bouquet is full of red fruit aromas.
Located at the south west of the appelation, the ‘Lieu Dit‘ lies on exceptional sandy soils which give the Grenache its fine tannins, airy flavours and wonderful acidity which balances its power so well. Deep ruby in colour with a subtle nose of ripe black fruit, soft liquorice, plum and stone fruits. In the mouth, it is racy and elegant.
The superb Domaine des Bosquets Gigondas is made by Laurent Brechet from his 26 hectare estate close to the Dentelles de Montmirail mountains. As at Vaudieu, the wine has freshness yet richness. Laurent has identified three different terroirs which add to the potential for different ripeness levels and fruit characters.
A wonderful pastel colour with salmon notes and hints of copper and pink gold. The elegant and delicate bouquet develops aromas of candied melon and citrus zest, both fresh and heady. On the palate the immediate expression is energising, like morning dew, with bursts of fruity redcurrant notes.
A small estate of 14 hectares, Domaine de Saint Paul is the excellent family domaine of Eli Jeune. Grown on pebble soils in the southern Rhône flood plain, Châteauneuf is predominantly blended from Grenache with Syrah, Muscardin, Cinsault and Mourvèdre adding structure and complexity.
La Bernardine Chateauneuf du Pape, is another classic from Chapoutier. The wine is an intense crimson red in colour, with complex aromas of morello cherry, blackcurrant and plum mingling with roasted coffee, and subtle sweet spice.
