Yet another brilliant SA Chardonnay, the grapes come exclusively from OVERBERG – The Cape`s coolest viticultural area with a unique climate. No overt wood characters on the nose. Subtle citrus fruit and citrus blossom fragrances are apparent on the nose, with hints of vanilla pod and almond flakes.
Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Nascetta and a tiny amount of Riesling. Luigi Baudana planted the white grapes in the coolest of his Cerretta blocks in Serralunga d`Alba within the Barolo zone. His original plan was to find out which variety would behave better.
De Wetshof specialise in site specific wines, the Limestone Hill is from a vineyard with heavy clay soils, rich in Limestone. The wine displays fresh citrus fruit, ripe nectarine and lemon zest with a little touch of candyfloss and floral aromatics on the nose.

Lovely unoaked Macon from the commune of Vergisson. This wine puts the accent on the fruit, with a lovely crispness and good minerality. An elegant single estate Chardonnay. Bang on trend with soft nectarine fruit, delicate mineral notes and no oak. This wine is fresh and lively showing a good balance between succulent fruit and firm acids.
How J. Laurens continue to make this wine for such a low price is a total mystery. This vintage sparkling wine is made by the painstaking traditional method (the same way as Champagne) from the domaine`s best parcels of vines. Tastes better than any Champagne we`ve tried at double the price.
The juice was barrel-fermented then matured “sur lie” in the barrel for 9 months with occasional rolling of the barrels to accentuate the leesy character. 8% tank-fermented Chardonnay was blended with the barrel-fermented wine to ensure well-balanced citrus flavours. Both the tank and barrel-fermented Chardonnay underwent malolactic fermentation.

Youthful notes of lemon and honeysuckle are layered over canteloupe melon, nutmeg, and clove. The perception of richness is derived from fruit ripeness and ageing on regularly stirred yeast lees in the presence of aged French Oak.
Chamonix Chardonnay is released in the second year after the harvest. The wine shows bright straw yellow colour with golden highlights and ample aromas in scents that recall tropical fruits and grapefruit, mingling with hints of oatmeal, caramel and nutmeg.
For this, Peter Finlayson`s love of innovation led him to blend a classic barrel-fermented portion of Chardonnay with a fruity non-malo unwooded portion. The combination of new French oak coupled with the bright fruit of the unwooded portion presents voluptuous bright flavours of butterscotch, melon and creamy peach.
