An easy drinking and full bodied wine from Portugal, which has delicious soft fruit flavours of raspberries and redcurrants. The wine is made from selected Portuguese grapes with the addition of Shiraz and this is evident from the superb balance between smooth, ripe fruit and youthful freshness.
This white blend comes from relatively high-altitude vineyards above the river Douro. Bright lemon in colour. On the nose, intense floral aromas stand out, as well as citrus fruits, tropical fruits, white stone fruits and light asparagus aromas. It has lively acidity which is well integrated on the palate. The finish is elegant and harmonious.
Vega eminates from the steep terraced vineyards of the Douro Valley (home to the great Port houses) and is a sturdy table wine blended from three of the region`s best varieties, Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz. It is rich with plum, cherry and mineral elements and complex with a firm grip of tannins, typical of the region.
A charming single varietal Vinho Verde made using Loureiro grapes. A fragrant and expressive wine; Loureiro means `laurel` due to the similar aroma of the berries to the laurel tree. This fresh and zesty wine has notes of honeysuckle, orange blossom, acacia, apple and white peach.
A single varietal Vinho Verde made from Avesso grapes. The wine is a pale lemon in colour, this Avesso has notes of melon, pear and blossom on the nose. The palate is medium bodied with a silky mouthfeel and a balancing, fresh citrus acidity. White peach, ripe apple and honeysuckle.
The grapes were partially destemmed before treading by foot in the traditional lagars, a hallmark of Quinta do Infantado wines. Fermentation is long at Infantado, producing drier wines, some of the wine was aged in tank and some in oak barrel of various sizes and ages.
Baby Mouchao A blend of Alicante Bouschet, Trincadeira and Aragonez, vinified in Lagares in the traditional way and aged in large wooden vats with a proportion in barrels for 12 months and released after a further 6 months in bottle. A fantastic fruity, full bodied wine with stacks of ripe black fruit and hints of vanilla. Terrific value for money!
A blend of Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro & Aragonez, this is a beautifully made, full bodied wine with intense flavours and lots of red fruit and complex layers.The finish is long and fresh. Really good value for this high quality Portuguese red.
A fantastic white from the Dao. The Quinta dos Carvalhais Encruzado has a core of bright citrus fruits, melon and pear overlaid by floral, herbaceous and mineral aromas on the nose. This complex bouquet is complemented by the spicy aromas of French oak. On the palate, it is fresh, balanced and harmonious with vibrant acidity.
A wonderfully aromatic Touriga Nacional from the Dao region. Ruby-red in colour with intense aromas of ripe red and black fruits, with floral and herbal notes that give the wine freshness, and subtle oaky flavours from time spent ageing in barrel.
Quinta do Fojo primarily grow grapes for Taylor`s Port, but in exceptional years they will produce a still wine. This is a rich, powerful Douro red, showing wonderful dark fruit, a beautiful perfume and complex, earthy aromas.
With a slightly lighter and more subtle style thanthe main wine Mouchão. It is made from Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Shiraz, also trodden and fermented in lagares. It ages in 300 liters French oak barrels for up to 24 months. It remains in bottle for 12 months before release. This is a big, ripe and fruity wine.
From the historic producer Casa Ferreirinha, the wine is made at the modern winery at Quinta da Leda in the Douro Valley. Very deep ruby in colour. Its intense and complex aromas include notes of red and black berries, balsamic hints, resin and cedar wood.
Mouchao Alentejo red from the terrific 2013 vintage is made from Alicante Bouschet and Trincadeira. These wines are traditionally foot trodden and fermented in lagares, 2-3 years in large wooden vats and then 2-3 years in bottle before release.
Top selection from Mouchao with very limited release and allocation, it is only made in years of exceptional quality and and chosen from the best parcels of Alicante Bouschet in the Carapetos vineyard. Crushed by foot and after fermentation in the lagares it is aged in in two wooden vats numbered 3 and 4 for 24 months.
