This Etna Rosso from Sicily, is surprisingly sturdy for a wine this pale. The grapes are grown in the volcanic soils around Mount Etna and provide a wonderful depth of minerality beneath the ripe cherry and wild strawberry fruit flavours. The wine has six to eight months ageing in traditional chestnut barrels which adds a layer of nuttiness and savoury complexity on the long finish. It might look pale, but goodness it packs a punch! It would be great with veggie and meat pasta.
