An old vine Chenin Blanc from the Western Cape. Flotsam and Jestam is a project by Chris and Suzaan Alheit. Its purpose is to explore and preserve the Cape`s vinous heritage, to celebrate the underdogs and the oddities, and hopefully to show that "workhorse" grapes can make lekker wine.
Savoury and elegant, with aromas of wet earth, clove and savoury notes complemented by vanilla and violet notes. The palate is dense and finely textured. The 2012 vintage will be seen as one of the best the Cape has ever produced!
Cartology is an iconic wine made with grapes sourced from rare and extraordinary parcels of mature dryland bushvines. Naturally the varieties used are also heritage varieties, namely Chenin Blanc and Semillon, both of which have been planted in the Cape for centuries.
Darker and more intense than any other Crystallum Pinot. Notes of smoked meat, Indian spice and fresh cranberry are followed by an intense fruit filled mid-palate. The wine has a lovely length and freshness. Should age well over the next 10 years.
