A subtle and wonderfully charismatic cherry scented red wine, given an extraordinary depth of flavour by refermenting the blend of Valpolicella grape varieties on the skins left from the Amarone wine and matured for 18 months in large oak barrels. The wine shows a spicy pepper nose, with a hint of raisins.
This Sankt Laurent from the team at Allram, Austria is Elegant and a light red colour. The Sankt laurent Grape is a descendent of Pinot Noir and so has some of those characteristics. It has excellent spicy fruit, delicate sweetness and a well-balanced acidity. It is mineral, on the palate but still fruit driven.
Produced from the three Valpolicella grape varieties of Corvina Veronese, Rondinella and Molinara, cultivated high on the hillside terraces. After harvest the grapes are placed directly onto small open racks and brought to the open sided building where they are dried by the cool breezes of autumn and winter until the following February.
Deep ruby-red. Strong note of herbs, quinine and roasted red fruit on the nose. Then fresher and cleaner with lovely floral flavors of red cherry and spicy herbs. Finishes long with youthfully chewy tannins. Although stunning now, this wine will reward cellaring for a few years still.
Intense ruby in colour, with perfumes of spice and blackberries with a mineral note, La Poja is rich and full-bodied on the palate, with great structure and balance, rounded, spicy cherry-blackberry fruit and a long, spicy finish.
