This has full ripe Pinot Gris spiciness in the nose, with a lovely lemon lift. It is medium weight, but with a full, stony impact on the palate, where it is long and satisfying with good acidity. No malolactic fermentation is allowed, so the wine retains a bright crisp citrus acidity. Attractive peach fruit. creamy texture, very slightly off-dry.

Rich gold in colour, this wine delights with mellow aromatics, which are reminiscent of pear, apple, quince, dough and cream, with a touch of wood smoke. On the palate, generous flavours of baked apple, quince, cream, nuts and pastry.
The white grapes were pressed before the fermentation started at 18°C. The wine was fortified using natural grape spirit, which caused the fermentation to stop and left a sweet wine with 16% alcohol, relatively light in alcohol for a fortified wine. The wine was then aged for seven years in old, large oak barrels.
The robe is a light yellow with an average intensity. The disk is bright, limpid and transparent. The wine has a youthful character.The nose is varietal, with slight smoky and cocoa flavours Airing reveals more fruity notes, apricots and peach.The onset in the mouth is fresh, delicate and moderately ample. A deep and powerful Californian Zinfandel, full of bright red fruit. The core of this blend comes from the Cortina Vineyard planted in 1972 in Dry Creek Valley. This site is named after the gravelly loam soils prevalent up and down Dry Creek Valley.
The San Lorenzo vineyard was purchased by the Seghesios in 1896. The blend for `The Pearl` is a result of the century old field blend of 69% Zinfandel, 15% Petite Sirah, 5% Carignan and 10% mixed reds that include Grand Noir, Alicante, Negrette and Mataro. The nose has layered complexity with black plums, raspberries and cigar box aromas.
