It was important to Rick that The Liberator should, in some small way, mark the events to date of the year 2020. Horrific bush fires in Australia, unprecedented plagues of locusts in East Africa, COVID-19… Plus, the uncertainty inflicted on the world with the perfect storm of Donald Trump, Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin.

Making up 50% of all plantings, Kanonkop`s Pinotage vines have been retained as bush vines to provide optimum sunlight and therefore maximum ripeness. A deep purple-red colour, with a bright rim. This Pinotage offers notes of raspberry, strawberry and red cherry which is balanced by sweet spice, plum, redcurrant and supple tannins.

Dark amber in colour, with aromas of dried figs, sultanas and caramel. This wine is round and soft on the palate with fresh notes of dried fruit, nuts and honeysuckle with a pleasant, sweet and clean finish.

The grapes were partially destemmed before treading by foot in the traditional lagars, a hallmark of Quinta do Infantado wines. Fermentation is long at Infantado, producing drier wines, some of the wine was aged in tank and some in oak barrel of various sizes and ages.

Lovely organic Cotes du Rhone from Simon Tyrell and Charles Derain. A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault fermented in stainless steel and spends 6 months lees ageing.
