Deep ruby colour. The nose is full of dark fruits such as cassis, mulberry and blueberry, along with a touch of fresh red strawberry and raspberry fruit and a hint of violet. The wood gives just a touch of complexity on the palate, complementing the fresh, fruity character. Tannins are soft and gentle in this rounded and complex wine.
Le Chemin des Garennes from Chateau Capion is a blend of Roussanne and Bourboulenc from the Languedoc. Made in the style of an Amarone, it is concentrated and opulent on the palate, with great balance.
We love the Botanica wines and this Merlot is just delicious. The deep garnet colour hints at it being a big wine and it is. On the nose, aromas of brambles, dark choclate and mint notes. These follow through on the palate and the fleshy fruit is supported with firm tannins and lovely fresh acidity.

The still-fermenting juice was presented to Rick by Margaux Nel of Boplaas, from grapes she and her partner, Leon had sourced from an apple farmer in Elgin.
