Ch. La Coste Rosé Cotes de Provence 2023
464610 / 75cl
The flagship rosé of Château La Coste, making up to almost half of the total production. The wine is made entirely from the estate’s vineyards, with fifty percent coming from the oldest Grenache and Syrah vines. The vineyard is situated on deep limestone soils with a northern exposure. This allows grapes to retain refreshing acidity, as well as mitigating disease pressure due to the higher levels of wind, lending a helping hand to the organic estate. Half of the grapes are harvested by hand. The grapes were picked from selected parcels and underwent direct pressing, a proportion of which were left in whole bunches. Following a cold stabilisation and settling, the fermentation occurred at a low temperature. Blending and maturation occurred in stainless steel tanks, on the fine lees. A vibrant and delicate rosé, with fresh summer berries and melon apparent on the nose. Nectarine and citrus lead the palate with some textural richness permitting this wine to work well with food, as well as on its own.
