This 5 Year Old Madeira starts life as fermenting must and is then fortified before undergoing its own very special maturation process. Made of predominantly Tinta Negra Mole Grapes, harvest begins from mid-August due to the warm southerly climate.
Sercial is the driest style of madeira and exhibits mouthwatering acidity. Golden orange in colour, the wine displays vivid floral aromas, with nuts and dried orange peel on the palate. This is a complex wine with balanced acidity and a lengthy finish.
A dark gold wine with greenish hues. A complex and developed aroma of honey, nuts, namely hazelnuts and vanilla. Half sweet palate of nuts, with caramel and wood and a good balance between sweetness and acidity. An excellent accompaniment to rich desserts and chocolates.
To create Fusion, both unpeated Indian barley and peated Scottish barley are distilled and matured separately in American oak barrels for more than four years. Amrut Fusion is then blended and ‘married’ in American oak barrels for an additional three months.
Madeira is a fortified wine that depends upon heat and evaporation to createconsistent long lasting styles. The must is fortified, either to arrest fermentation for a Malmsey or a Bual, or later in the fermentation process, in the case of Sercial or Verdelho before undergoing its own very special maturation.
