High Hopes Syrah Lukas Van Loggerenberg 2022

88% Syrah, 9% Grenache noir, 3% Cinsaut . This wine about discovering new places and reaching new heights. The three leaves on the right showcase the number of cultivars in the blend while the school bag, athlete and fisherman all suggest how we always have high hopes when we try something new or when we go out to achieve something great. Lukas is also a keen fisherman who always has high hopes when he goes out for the day with the hopes of catching dinner. In the background is Lukas’s profile with a map of the Swartland with the wheat also symbolizing the origin of the wine as it is widely cultivated in the Swartland. The Syrah was 30% whole bunch fermented and was aged in big 500Litre barrels. The grenache and cinsaut were both destemmed and aged in small barrique. The different components were blended after 11 months in oak. Due to the low yields on all 3 vineyards, we didn’t have to do much extraction with only one pump performed daily.
